Instruction

There are more than 25,000 PGA Professionals in the country. Most every professional is capable of giving basic golf lessons. These lessons help the beginner learn some of the fundamentals needed to play the game properly. In this section we will give a few options of lesson types offered and what to look for if you need some help.

Private Instruction

One on one lessons with the instructor that are the most personal, comprehensive and intense. Privates can be basic information to very specific and technical information. Not going to lie, not all teachers are created equal. Search out some masters of the game in your area and go for it! Learning a good foundation can truly help build a solid base for a person’s enjoyment.

Clinics

The least intensive type of instruction. Very helpful but broad strokes of information with less personal attention due to size and numbers attending the clinics. Clinics can be incredibly helpful to players of all abilities and can help supplement private golf instruction to make it more affordable to learn the game for many players.

Group lessons

Group lessons, unlike clinics, can be more detailed and specific. There are multiple students so it’s not quite as hands on as a private lesson but these lessons do have much more interaction and “hands on” instruction. This allows the instruction to be more specific and personal to the individuals in the group.

Golf schools

Golf schools can be a blast. These lessons allow you to immerse yourself in the instruction for a couple days. Generally in group format and usually very structured between stations, golf schools can offer a comprehensive experience for golfers. These are almost like mini vacations. People can book golf schools for travel reasons. It’s important to consider weather and location when choosing to attend golf schools. Heat, humidity, chill and rain are weather elements that can severely impact your experience at a golf school.
