Test #4 – Hip Rotation

Prerequisite information:

The hip rotation test should be performed in bare feet, in cloths that will not restrict movement.

Movement:

To perform the hip rotation test. You will need a basic flat chair To perform a hip rotation test, sit in a flat chair where you can sit flush against the back of the chair and your feet are flat on the ground. Ideally the knees and hips should be at the same level.

Without allowing your back 2 round or your body to twist your shift slowly place one ankle on the opposing knee by rotating the hip externally.

Place the foot back on ground and repeat on other side.

  • Note any differences between the two

Passing:

  • Ability to comfortably rest ankle on the top of the opposing the without any shifter movement to the rest of the entire body.

Needs improvement:

  • Inability to place foot at finish position
  • Slumping of the Torso
  • Using momentum or going too fast.
  • Pain
  • If there’s an on-set or increase in pain with the self-tests we suggest that you see a more advanced professional for a more thoroughly assess.

Possible swing faults:

  • Sway / slide
  • Loss of posture
  • Reverse spine angle
  • Lack of rotation in backswing
  • Lack of rotation in downswing
  • Early extension
  • Casting
  • Over the top
  • Chicken wing
