#2 The Forward Bend “Shift”
Employ this power principle to avoid “power leaks” and generate max distance.
In reality, powerful swings start with your takeaway. The take-away is where you build up “stored energy” that releases during your downswing. But all too often, the take-away where most golfers fail.
Every golfer knows that, at address, you bend forward from your hips (not your waist). But it’s what happens with “the bend” that determines how far you’ll hit the ball.
● As you start your take-away, shift your upper body (maintaining the bend angle)
over your back leg. Be careful not let your lower body shift laterally as well, as it
should be rotating.
● At the top of your backswing, your upper body should be “stacked” over your back
leg. From here, you can explode on the way down and create explosive power.
NOTE: Creating the “upper-body/back-leg stack” prevents those dreaded power leaks that rob the majority of golfers the distance they could have attained.
