#3 Head Lag

Put the “Head Lag” into practice to gain optimal power sequencing.

Okay.  You’ve executed the “power take-away” and created the “power stack” (see #2, “The Forward Bend Shift”).

You’ve got all this amazing stored power ready to be unleashed on your downswing. You want to be able to transfer 100% of this power to the ball. Now what?

The longest drivers of the ball understand that the key to maximum energy transfer lies in what I call “head lag.”

The reality is, our natural tendency is to lunge at the ball with all our weight.  That is a fail.

Here’s how to succeed:

As you get to the top of the backswing, make sure your head stays back as you

                   initiate the downswing.

Your head will only stay back for a split second, but that “lag” will be enough time

for your lower body to fire first, followed by your core, then your upper body

NOTE: This “head lag” gives you the ability to gain the absolute maximum possible “smash factor”
