High Launch For Beginners

 

Why and when would a player need to hit a higher launch drive? The saying, “tee it high and let it fly” comes to mind. Launch monitors have proven if you want to hit the farthest possible tee shots, you want to launch the ball higher with less spin.

Two important factors that create higher launch:

1. Tee the ball higher and more forward in the stance.
2. Keep the upper body / head behind the shot.

Both teeing the ball forward and staying back behind the ball encourage a shallower angle of attack. A shallower angle of attack with the loft of the driver RESULTS in higher flying, lower spinning shots to maximize distance
