High Launch For Intermediates
High launched tee shots fly higher, spin less and travel farther than low launch high spinning shots.
Two important things to master when hitting the high launch drives:
- Ball must be positioned forward in stance to encourage an upward angle of attack.
- Upper body must stay behind the ball / impact to allow the club to properly shallow out.
One challenge when learning to hit the higher launch is alignments of stance and body at address. When the player learns to hit upward at impact, the swing begins to swing up and left of the bottom of the swing path. This requires a player to align the body slightly closed to the target line to compensate for how much the player swings up and across the ball at impact.
The proper angles and alignments at address will help organize impact and ball flight.
